Course Overview

Trauma therapy with complex clients is not a protocol. It is a moment by moment practice of tracking, attuning, and choosing well under pressure. This advanced continuing education training is for licensed clinicians who already work with trauma and want to deepen what happens in the room when sessions get layered, dysregulated, or relationally charged.

About This Advanced Trauma Therapy Training

The Art and Attunement of Advanced Trauma Therapy is a 4-hour live virtual continuing education course designed for therapists working with complex trauma, PTSD, and attachment wounding. This training moves beyond foundational trauma concepts and focuses on the clinical decisions that shape outcomes: how to track nervous system activation in real time, how to respond to dissociation and high intensity affect, how to pace deep work with chronically dysregulated clients, and how to hold steady when relational dynamics intensify.

This is not a modality specific course. It is a deepening course. Participants integrate trauma physiology, parts informed work, somatic awareness, and flexible use of trauma modalities to support nuanced, attuned clinical practice with the clients who are hardest to help and most worth helping.

What You Will Learn

This advanced trauma therapy training covers the clinical skills that distinguish experienced trauma therapists from technically proficient ones:

  • Advanced nervous system tracking in complex trauma therapy
  • Recognizing and responding to dissociation, shutdown, and overwhelm
  • Deepening attunement and pacing with chronically dysregulated clients
  • Working with parts, protectors, and fragmented trauma material
  • Navigating relational dynamics, rupture, and repair in trauma therapy
  • Making moment by moment clinical decisions during trauma processing
  • Integrating trauma modalities in complex presentations without rigidity
  • Ethical considerations when working with high intensity trauma material
  • Supporting integration and stabilization after deep trauma work

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe advanced nervous system responses associated with complex trauma and PTSD.
  2. Identify clinical indicators of dissociation, shutdown, and overwhelm during trauma therapy.
  3. Apply attunement and pacing strategies to support safety and regulation in complex trauma work.
  4. Integrate trauma informed interventions in response to moment by moment clinical cues.
  5. Explain ethical considerations related to working with high intensity trauma material and complex presentations.

Who This Training Is For

This is an advanced level training. It is designed for:

  • Mental health professionals currently providing trauma focused therapy
  • Therapists with prior training in trauma modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, or somatic approaches
  • Clinicians working with complex trauma, PTSD, or attachment related trauma
  • Therapists seeking to refine attunement, pacing, and clinical judgment
  • Practitioners who want to deepen their capacity for high intensity trauma work

Prior foundational training in at least one trauma modality.

This is an advanced educational training. It is not a certification program and does not replace required modality specific training, consultation, or supervision.
